    War in the Heavenlies !!

When we think about the Armour God gives us for war, (Ephesians).....
What are you using your armour for for,
How are you personally using your armour?

Re: War in the Heavenlies !!

Good question. I think the helmet of salvation is the one I use the most. It is also called the "helmet of hope". I use it when things look hopeless. When the enemy has me under such attack that I cannot see anything but despair. I then remember that this life is but a vapor soon to be over and I have eternity to look forward too. I combine this with the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit, which is the word(rhema)of God. It makes a nice combo defense. There are still some peices left and maybe others will comment on them. This thread comes at a good time for me. I have been watching an old Derek Prince video on the subject due to some recent life events:

Re: War in the Heavenlies !!

I have had three prayer partners who referred to the sword in my hand ... and the closer I walk with God, the stronger I feel I use my hand.... (I suppose when you see me in the physical you'll see that I talk with my hands) never before have I thought/experienced that praying Scripture gives me/us so much authority in the spiritual realm.

I sometimes stand amazed at when/if I allow myself to be covered /hidden in the cleft of the Rock how faithful God is...

,,,and I have come to the conclusion that my relationship with God has to do with how much I am dedicated to spending time with Him.
The more I renew my mind, the better my focus on Him, and then I don't have time for "time-stealers" in my life...
If what I do does not bring glory to my Creator, then it is not worthwhile doing.
    The LORD is my Miracle

    Thanks for the link

    And this caught my eye
One of the reasons that God allows Satan to continue is to allow our faith to be developed. Faith comes by hearing the Word, but it is exercised when we go through the circumstances of life.
Yup a sword is to attack but a shield defends.... and if I did not have Faith, boy would I be lost ..... it grows hope....

I however do find that you are never "dressed" just with one or two pieces of the Armour of God.
It does come as a "whole package"

Re: War in the Heavenlies !!

All of the armour we are to put on is related to the Word of God. Here is just another way of seeing this armour
from the Old Testament scriptures which is equally true. Wisdom

Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Pro 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Pro 4:8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
Pro 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
Pro 4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
Pro 4:11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
Pro 4:12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
Pro 4:13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

Preserve = "to hedge about, guard" We will be protected by God's Glory in which we are standing in and rejoicing in.
Keep = "to hide, to guard" Since wisdom is understanding it will keep the Word in us from being stolen away.
Promote = "to lift you up, to raise up" You will never stumble or fall.
    Long life = "eternal life"

Eyelog, I'm not sure what you did, but you have Why God Allows Satan to Continue as the header but have pasted information from another section under it. Look on pages 12-14 for the correct information.

Oh, Sorry, man. Didn't mean to misrep you. I'll look into that snaffoo. : )

    =======

Here's part of the real goods:

6 Reasons God Allows Satan to Continue

There are specific and strategic reasons that God allowed Satan to continue. It must be understood that man has a free will and may choose to do evil instead of serving Christ.

1.To develop faith and character in the Believer (see above)

2.To keep the Believer humble (2 Corinthians 12:7)

3.To provide conflict for the Believer that he might be rewarded

    through overcoming (1 John 2:13, 4:4, Revelation 2:7, 11, 17,26-28, 3:5, 12, 21)

4.To demonstrate the power of God over the power of Satan(Mark 16:17-20, Luke 10:17-19)

5.In certain cases, to afflict people to bring them to repentance (1Corinthians 5:1-6)

6.To purge man of all possibility of falling in the eternal future(Revelation 20).
This is pretty good stuff! I give you an "A" on this one.

You could have had an A+ if you had explained the nature of Satan's relationship with God a bit more. Care to go for it? : )

Well, yes and no. Mostly no.

But your description of the boundaries and situations in which Satan can act is near the issue I speak of.

I think you are saying Satan is used as an agent of God. And I agree. More than that, he has strict lines of authority that he cannot cross, but within which he is free to act, and he does. So, when we come against Satan in spiritual warfare, we ourselves are not to try to mess with those lines of authority. Rather, we are to ask the Lord to control or limit his agent, Satan. So, our problem is not between we and Satan, it is between we and God.

There are over 600 references within the Bible that talk about the End Times and Christ's return, for many verses have a near far application, and that's what I see when you quote Ephesians 6...
    "Enter by the Narrow Gate...
Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way...
... there are few who find it."

    Eyelog,
I think that this section deals more with your additional question:

[quote]Simon Peter was tested by Satan, allowed by God, prior to the
crucifixion of Jesus. Peter miserably failed his test but was also restored
    by God.

    Luke 22:
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked
for you, that he may sift you as wheat.
    32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail;
and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your
    brethren.”

The literal Greek for this passage says, “Satan has desired to claim you
back for himself.” But the devil had to go through Jesus in order to get
to Peter. Before Jesus let Satan through, He prayed for Peter that his
faith would not fail. The end result was that Peter was strengthened in
his faith. On the day of Pentecost, just 50 days later, it was Peter
standing before all of the renowned men of Israel, preaching the Gospel
    without the fear of man.

These two occasions of Job and Peter draw out a very important
principle. The word “purchased” in the New Testament is peri-poieomai
and is found in Acts 20:28: “He has purchased with His own blood.” The
term is a compound word, peri and poieomai. It literally means “to
purchase and draw a circle around.”

    [diagram not shown]

As can be seen by this diagram, the Believer dwells in a place of safety
from all the harm of the enemy. However, as with Job and Peter, there
are times when Satan is allowed to enter our circle. At this point, we
must understand that it is not for Satan to defeat the Believer, but for
the Believer to demonstrate the defeat of the devil. It should also be
understood that the Believer may also open the door through sin and
allow the devil into his circle.

Two Reasons for the devil to be in your circle:
    1. Permitted by God in order for the Believer to demonstrate
    the defeat of Satan.
    2. Permitted by the Believer by opening the door through sin.

If the root cause if the latter, repent, ask for God’s forgiveness, receive
cleansing by the blood and drive the devil out of your circle! If it is the
former, walk in faith and trust God – speak the Word and do not
    complain.
